History
Integrex Limited was formed in 1969 by two ex Rolls-Royce
engineers, Terry Portus and Tony Haywood. With a commitment
to innovative electronic design, the company’s first
products were kits for HiFi systems, including FM tuners,
stereo decoders, noise reduction systems and amplifiers.
Quadraphonic and surround-sound designs followed, and the
company still receives correspondence from enthusiasts
around the world! In 1979 the directors foresaw the popularity
of colour printing, and launched a low cost impact matrix
colour printer in the UK. Many units were sold, but even
then it was recognised that colour ribbon printing had
inherent problems, and in the first half of the 1980’s
development work started on a revolutionary colour inkjet
printer. Based on a Canon mechanism, the Colourjet 132
became a huge success, especially in the education market.
Over 50,000 units were sold, and many thousands are still
in use today. The colour inkjet printers evolved into lower
cost, replacement-head based machines, and a number of
models followed the Colourjet 132. There were also products
aimed at the top end of the market, giving near photographic
quality output years before it was considered mainstream.
Today
In 1990 a specific sales team was brought together to distribute
Integrex and other manufacturers computer and peripheral
products. Concentrating on education and corporate markets,
Integrex expanded its product portfolio, and now provides
complete IT solutions: the company designs & implements
integrated computer systems, networks & peripherals,
and integrates & installs AV equipment. We supply a
complete range of desktop and notebook PCs, file servers,
operating systems, printers, scanners, monitors, digital
cameras, LCD projectors, whiteboards and much more.
The emphasis on innovative engineering continues. Integrex
manufactures:
•
Digital Photobooths
•
Digital Print Kiosks
•
E-TopUp Kiosks
•
Industrial test & monitoring equipment.
Integrex engineering staff fulfil all the design roles,
from conception through development to manufacture. In-house
CAD systems are used extensively, for schematics and PCB
layout, FPGA processing and mechanical design. The latest
manufacturing techniques are called upon to produce finished
products, including laser-cutting and NC machining.
