Outline
The project specification was for a controller system capable
of modulating the output of a laser as it scans across
the surface of holographic film. Reading exposure data
from a computer file, the controller fires the laser for
periods of between 33 nanoseconds and 1 millisecond. This
exposes a tiny area of film, to an intensity proportional
to the laser duration. The laser is mounted upon a granite
bed using air bearings and linear motors to ensure an absolute
accuracy of better than 0.1 microns.
The main controller board fits inside a PC which provides
file and operating system services. The complete system is
connected to a LAN for data transfer purposes.
History
Integrex has designed and built a number of systems for Professor
Nick Phillips of DeMontfort University.
Previous projects include a video capture & analysis system
for profiling diffraction patterns displayed on a PAL TV system.

Design
Cycle
From concept, through specifying, design and review, Integrex
can bring years of experience plus the latest design tools to
produce state-of-the-art products.
Once a specification has been agreed with the customer, a price
for development and protoype systems is quoted. As the design
cycle progresses, any changes to the specification are accommodated,
until the customer is fully satisfied. If the product is to go
to manufacture, Integrex offers full costing, project planning
and delivery scheduling for one-offs or batch runs.
