SMART Board software includes the SMART Board driver and
SMART Notebook software. The SMART Board driver activates
the SMART Board interactive whiteboard so that you can
use your finger as a mouse or annotate over applications
in electronic ink. SMART Notebook software captures and
saves notes written on the SMART Board interactive whiteboard.
SMART Board software is compatible with all major operating
systems. Use the table below to find out about the specific
features available for your platform. SMART Board software
is also available in several languages, including English,
French, Spanish, German, Japanese, Chinese Traditional,
Chinese Simplified, Korean, Portuguese and Italian.

Touch Control
The SMART Board driver communicates with the interactive
whiteboard so you can use your finger as a mouse on
the its touch-sensitive surface. You can control applications,
surf the Web and move objects just by pressing on the
whiteboard.
Write on the Interactive Whiteboard
The SMART Board driver communicates with the interactive
whiteboard so you can write over top of any application
in electronic ink (this does not affect or harm the application
itself). This is useful for highlighting important information
while meeting, teaching, training or presenting. For example,
you may want draw your group's attention to a particular
number in a spreadsheet. Doing so is simple – you
just pick up a pen and circle the number.

SMART Notebook software lets you save, print and e-mail
your notes, diagrams and ideas.

Side Sorter
The Side Sorter shows thumbnail images of each whiteboard
page. With unlimited whiteboard space, this is useful
for sorting through and organizing your whiteboard notes.
Drag and Drop (Windows only)
Move objects created in the whiteboard between whiteboard
pages, or drag and drop them into other applications.
Screen Capture Tool
SMART Notebook's Screen Capture tool is a great way to
capture images and bring them into SMART Notebook software.
You can capture an entire screen, a window or a custom
rectangular area of the screen. Once captured, the
image is automatically pasted to a whiteboard page
in the SMART
Notebook software, or it can be pasted into another
application, such as e-mail.
Printing SMART Notebook Files:
Print up to 12 Notebook pages on one page.
Save as Image Files:
Save each whiteboard page as a separate image file in various
formats (e.g., JPEG, BMP, TIFF).
Save as HTML and Save as PDF (Windows Only)

On-Screen Keyboard
The on-screen keyboard is used for entering text, numbers
and symbols into any other computer application. For
example, you can enter a Web site address into a browser.
SMART Aware
SMART Aware provides seamless integration between the
SMART Board interactive whiteboard and third-party
software
applications. When any tool is picked up from the SMART
Pen Tray, SMART Aware communicates with that third-party
software so you can use that tool as part of your application.
For example, when you write over Microsoft PowerPoint
slides, you can choose to save your notes directly
into the PowerPoint file.

Annotation over Video
For Windows operatingsystems, you can use SMART Video
Player to view and annotate over video and graphics.
Play video
from a software file, VCR, video camera, projector, scanner,
document camera or other hardware connected to your computer.
Video Player enables you to write over top of the video,
pause or freeze frames and save or clear annotations.
Saving annotations automatically sends a screen capture
to a Notebook
file.
On the Mac OS X operating system, use QuickTime Player
software to annotate over moving or still images on a SMART
Board interactive whiteboard.
SMART Recorder
With SMART Recorder, you can record and then replay an
entire lesson, presentation or meeting.
SMART Recorder captures everything that happens on the
SMART Board interactive whiteboard, no matter which software
application you're using. Recorder can also record audio
through a microphone and then combine the audio and data
into one file for playback on any computer. Anyone with
Windows Media Player can play the file back and watch it
like a movie.

SMART Recorder can be activated at any
point during a presentation or meeting. A clock and a rotating
icon indicate that SMART Recorder is on. Using a simple
three-button toolbar, you can start, pause or stop recording.
SMART Recorder saves files as .AVI files. Settings can
be adjusted to achieve optimum recording and playback for
different computer systems.

menu in the latest version of Windows Media Player.

Handwriting Recognition
SMART Board software can recognise your handwriting or
printing and convert it to text. There is no need to
train the software. Handwriting recognition is available
through both SMART Notebook software and the on-screen
keyboard.

All handwritten notes can be converted to text by clicking
or pressing the A button in the top right hand-corner.
You can convert single words or sentences or an entire
whiteboard page of handwritten notes.

The on-screen keyboard provides a space for handwriting.
Once converted, the text can be entered into any application.
For example, you can enter handwriting into a Microsoft
Word and Excel document. Corrections are quick and easy
to make using the backspace, space and enter commands.
Bulb Saver
To extend the life of your projector's bulb, you can
set the projector to turn off when the interactive
whiteboard
is left unused for a set period of time. All you need
to do to reactivate it is touch its surface or press
any key on the keyboard. When reactivated, the interactive
whiteboard will return to the same point you were at
before the Bulb Saver was activated.
