SMART Board software includes the SMART Board driver and SMART Notebook software. The SMART Board driver activates the SMART Board interactive whiteboard so that you can use your finger as a mouse or annotate over applications in electronic ink. SMART Notebook software captures and saves notes written on the SMART Board interactive whiteboard.

SMART Board software is compatible with all major operating systems. Use the table below to find out about the specific features available for your platform. SMART Board software is also available in several languages, including English, French, Spanish, German, Japanese, Chinese Traditional, Chinese Simplified, Korean, Portuguese and Italian.

*Note: Some features in SMART Notebook software are not available to Macintosh users. These features are marked as Windows only.

Touch Control

The SMART Board driver communicates with the interactive whiteboard so you can use your finger as a mouse on the its touch-sensitive surface. You can control applications, surf the Web and move objects just by pressing on the whiteboard.

Write on the Interactive Whiteboard

The SMART Board driver communicates with the interactive whiteboard so you can write over top of any application in electronic ink (this does not affect or harm the application itself). This is useful for highlighting important information while meeting, teaching, training or presenting. For example, you may want draw your group's attention to a particular number in a spreadsheet. Doing so is simple – you just pick up a pen and circle the number.

SMART Notebook Software

SMART Notebook software lets you save, print and e-mail your notes, diagrams and ideas.

Side Sorter

The Side Sorter shows thumbnail images of each whiteboard page. With unlimited whiteboard space, this is useful for sorting through and organizing your whiteboard notes.

Drag and Drop (Windows only)

Move objects created in the whiteboard between whiteboard pages, or drag and drop them into other applications.

Screen Capture Tool

SMART Notebook's Screen Capture tool is a great way to capture images and bring them into SMART Notebook software. You can capture an entire screen, a window or a custom rectangular area of the screen. Once captured, the image is automatically pasted to a whiteboard page in the SMART Notebook software, or it can be pasted into another application, such as e-mail.

Printing SMART Notebook Files: Print up to 12 Notebook pages on one page.

Save as Image Files: Save each whiteboard page as a separate image file in various formats (e.g., JPEG, BMP, TIFF).

Save as HTML and Save as PDF (Windows Only)

Save whiteboard notes as HTML or PDF files to easily share with others.

Viewing Notebook Files

View files from any computer running SMART Board software
View Notebook files saved as HTML files using any Web browser
View Notebook files saved as PDF files using Adobe Acrobat Reader

Additional Features: Online Help and Tutorial. Unlimited Undo and Redo.

*Note: Some features in SMART Notebook software are not available to Macintosh users. These features are marked as Windows only.

On-Screen Keyboard

The on-screen keyboard is used for entering text, numbers and symbols into any other computer application. For example, you can enter a Web site address into a browser.

SMART Aware

SMART Aware provides seamless integration between the SMART Board interactive whiteboard and third-party software applications. When any tool is picked up from the SMART Pen Tray, SMART Aware communicates with that third-party software so you can use that tool as part of your application. For example, when you write over Microsoft PowerPoint slides, you can choose to save your notes directly into the PowerPoint file.

Major software applications currently supported for Windows:
Microsoft PowerPoint (also supported for Macintosh)
AutoCAD
Corel Presentation
CorelDRAW 8
Microsoft Paint

Major conferencing applications currently supported for Windows:

Microsoft NetMeeting (both the whiteboard and application sharing)
FarSite 3.x
LiveShare

Annotation over Video

For Windows operatingsystems, you can use SMART Video Player to view and annotate over video and graphics. Play video from a software file, VCR, video camera, projector, scanner, document camera or other hardware connected to your computer. Video Player enables you to write over top of the video, pause or freeze frames and save or clear annotations. Saving annotations automatically sends a screen capture to a Notebook file.

On the Mac OS X operating system, use QuickTime Player software to annotate over moving or still images on a SMART Board interactive whiteboard.

SMART Recorder

With SMART Recorder, you can record and then replay an entire lesson, presentation or meeting.

SMART Recorder captures everything that happens on the SMART Board interactive whiteboard, no matter which software application you're using. Recorder can also record audio through a microphone and then combine the audio and data into one file for playback on any computer. Anyone with Windows Media Player can play the file back and watch it like a movie.

SMART Recorder can be activated at any point during a presentation or meeting. A clock and a rotating icon indicate that SMART Recorder is on. Using a simple three-button toolbar, you can start, pause or stop recording. SMART Recorder saves files as .AVI files. Settings can be adjusted to achieve optimum recording and playback for different computer systems.

SMART Recorder Preview

For optimal viewing, select Full Screen from the View menu in the latest version of Windows Media Player. Press the Esc key to exit.

Handwriting Recognition

SMART Board software can recognise your handwriting or printing and convert it to text. There is no need to train the software. Handwriting recognition is available through both SMART Notebook software and the on-screen keyboard.

recognise Handwriting in SMART Notebook Software

All handwritten notes can be converted to text by clicking or pressing the A button in the top right hand-corner. You can convert single words or sentences or an entire whiteboard page of handwritten notes.

Recognise Handwriting in the On-Screen Keyboard

The on-screen keyboard provides a space for handwriting. Once converted, the text can be entered into any application. For example, you can enter handwriting into a Microsoft Word and Excel document. Corrections are quick and easy to make using the backspace, space and enter commands.

Bulb Saver

To extend the life of your projector's bulb, you can set the projector to turn off when the interactive whiteboard is left unused for a set period of time. All you need to do to reactivate it is touch its surface or press any key on the keyboard. When reactivated, the interactive whiteboard will return to the same point you were at before the Bulb Saver was activated.

Projector Controls

With a serial connection from your computer to a supported projector, you can control projector settings from the SMART Board interactive whiteboard, such as:
brightness
contrast
source
volume
