The
CanoScan 2710 is the affordable high performance film scanner
for professionals and photo-enthusiasts that require exceptional
quality scans of 35mm or Advanced Photo System films.
Outstanding resolution in a compact desktop unit for Windows
or SCSI equipped Macintosh Systems, the CanoScan 2710 is
a 36 bit high quality film scanner that builds on the success
of the CanoScan 2700F. Although the scanners boast the same
resolution, 2710 dpi, the latest addition to the Canon scanner
range offers just that little bit extra that makes a world
of difference. The CanoScan FS2710 offers Adobe PhotoShop
4.0 LE, improved image quality and adds the CanoCraft FS
3.6 driver to its 'out of the box' image solution.
New and Improved Canon Driver
The CanoScan 2710 comes standard with the CanoCraft FS
3.6 driver that is designed to work with Windows 95/98 and
Windows NT4.0 operating systems. It also enables transfers
of 36bit colour images to Adobe Photoshop 4.0 LE. The CanoCraft
software offers more control of the scanning process and
allows simpler manipulation of the gamma, brightness, contrast,
white point and black point of the scanned images.
Canon adds the latest version of the industry standard
for photo retouching and still imaging effects, Adobe Photoshop
4.0 LE, to their new film scanner. This application allows
the user to use the features most users ever need for image
creation. Obviously the plug-in module for Photoshop is
provided as well, enabling MAC users to enjoy the many benefits
of the CanoScan 2710.
Out of the Box Solution
Again Canon offers an 'out of the box solution' by adding
all necessary cables, SCSI II card, a complete software
package, the Advanced Photo System Adapter and 35 mm film
holder to the actual film scanner. The CanoScan 2710 features
the SCSI II card enabling images to be scanned within 13
seconds flat. And equipped with the film holder and adapter
these images can origin from a variety of film formats.
High Quality Scanning
The CanoScan 2710 offers like the award winning CanoScan
2700F an optical resolution of 2720 dpi, but the new film
scanner boasts a powerful 36 bit output resulting in a 68-billion-colour
recognition and a 3.2D optical density range.
The Canon film scanner is equipped with the specially designed
CANALY (Colour Adjustment for Negative Automatically) to
improve the scanning results from colour negative films
where the film base colour needs to be compensated for.
As with the CanoScan 2700F the new film scanner uses a
Xenon fluorescent lamp, which gives more natural colour
reproduction and requires no warm-up time. And by adding
a dust cover preventing dust collecting on the transparencies
being scanned the CanoScan 2710 gives cleaner scans requiring
less retouching. Overall the introduction of the latest
addition to the scanner range proves that Canon remains
customer focussed offering their customer continuous higher
quality.
