• The Professional Choice for Ultimate Line and Photo
Quality • For Architects, Engineers, and GIS Professionals
The HP Designjet 500 printer is the professional printer
at an exceptional price for small workgroups (1 to 3 people)
in the fields of architecture, engineering, construction
and mechanical design. It delivers ultimate line and photo
quality with continuous tones, smooth transitions and a
wide color gamut. The printer comes in two sizes, with
a media path that is either 42 inches (107 cm) or 24 inches
(61 cm) wide.
Product Overview • Ultimate line and photo quality
Ultimate photo quality is achieved using HP color layering and up to 1200
dpi resolution. 1 Ultimate line quality, with lines as thin as 0.002 in.
(0.05 mm)
and an accuracy of +/- 0.2%, is the result of minuscule drops and continuous
ink flow. Many more colors are available per printed dot as the printer layers
different color ink drops over each other to create new colors. • Low cost of operation
The HP Designjet 500 is an exceptionally priced printer and has incredibly
low cost-per-copy of ink and media. • Fast and efficient printing with no hassle
The printer is ideal for small workgroups (1 to 3 people) and has print times
as short as 90 seconds for D-size (A1-size) drawings. Drivers are easy to
install and intuitive to use, an ink-set change takes less than 1 minute,
the control
panel is simple to navigate, and media loading is smooth and straightforward. • Great media flexibility
A wide choice of HP Premium Printing Material is available, including HP
Coated Paper, HP Heavyweight Coated Paper, HP High-Gloss Photo Paper, HP
Satin Poster
Paper, HP Studio Canvas, HP Bright White Inkjet Paper, HP Translucent Bond,
HP Natural Tracing Paper, HP Vellum, HP Clear Film and HP Matte Film. • Unattended printing
The printer can work unattended with its off-axis, 69-cc ink cartridges,
long-life printheads, 150-ft (45-m) media rolls, automatic cutting, and stacking
of finished
prints in the media bin [optional on the 24-inch (61-cm) model]. The ink
cartridges have almost double the ink capacity of previous HP ink cartridges
in this category,
and printheads last through five to six ink-cartridge changes on average,
depending upon usage. • Smooth connectivity
Drivers for Windows ® applications come in the box and include support
of AutoCAD. An HP-GL/2 processor is available as an optional plug-in card.
The printer
has USB 1.1 and parallel ports, and 16 MB of RAM, which is expandable up
to 160 MB (in combination with the HP-GL/2 card). A range of network cards
are also
available as accessories. • Consistent colors
Consistent colors are achieved every time regardless of printhead usage, ambient
temperature or ink levels, using automatic closed-loop-color calibration.
